Belgium

Up Brussels Bruges

We went over to Belgium in May 2003. We went via Eurostar - first class of course! but that is more or less the same price as going standard class - and you get food an unlimited drinks including champagne. I would recommend making the effort to go first class on Eurostar if you can.

Brussels was ok, but very expensive for eating out and the like. We managed but it was not a cheap holiday - considering what we spent I would have liked better value. In saying that it was ok - but really only somewhere for a short visit.

We did go for a daytrip to Bruges which was a glorious place. It was a nice sunny day which helped and the buildings and architecture were fabulous. A very pleasant boat trip around the canals was nice, and we had a pleasant enough meal in a restaurant overlooking one of the squares.

I think I would go back to Bruges and maybe like to visit Ghent also which we missed out on this time, but I'm in no rush to go back to Brussels.
